The objective for builder Privilège and architect Marc Lombard was to design a power version of the very successful Série 5. The bet paid off, as the elegant Euphorie 51 has irreproachable seakeeping qualities and a luxury level of comfort. With the exception of a few details, notably in the cockpit, this powercat is now taking over the deck plan of the Privilège Signature 510. The layout is unchanged: the gigantic owner’s cabin still occupies the full width of the central rostrum. As usual in the Privilège world, customization is possible and high-end quality is present in every detail. A real invitation to head off further afield!

The LEEN Trimarans range already counts two models, the 56 and the 72, and now the La Rochelle-based shipyard has announced a third, more compact model, the LEEN 50. This new tri will be picking up the same program as her bigger sisterships, i.e. blue water cruising with irreproachable marine qualities, great comfort at sea thanks to the three hulls, and large range. Powercats of this size, capable of covering 1,750 miles at 10 knots, are not a common sight, and this is precisely the interest of this trimaran - easing back the throttle of the two engines a little more will mean ocean passage-making capability becomes a reality. So we are dealing with an ocean-going trawler. On deck, the LEEN 50 has the same covered side-decks as her big sisters, and inside, the emphasis will be on a very neat and refined finish - top of the range upholstery, quality joinery based on solid wood, Bolon and Corian.

ILIAD 50

The Iliad range is built in China and distributed in Australia. This 50-foot boat, designed for ocean crossing, is complemented by two other models that are even bigger. The Iliad’s program is much more adventurous than that of most of its competitors: the possibility of covering 2,500 miles without refueling and being able to take the ground, on a beach or slipway proves it from the outset... However, comfort has not been neglected, quite the contrary: the Iliad 50 offers three levels of living space and a particularly neat finish.

LEOPARD 53 POWERCAT

A clear effort in terms of design

 
 
First presented at the 2020 Miami Boat Show, the 53 PC has replaced the Leopard 51 PC launched back in 2013. This boat features real motoryacht lines, with a solid foredeck, pronounced topsides and an impressively sized flybridge. A very clear effort has been made in terms of design: the coachroof is visually lighter than on previous models. Inside, moving around is easy: a wide central passage connects the aft cockpit to the foredeck saloon - accessible thanks to the famous front door, dear to Leopard. Outside, there’s no shortage of space for relaxation, and access to the sea and the dinghy has been given priority. Our test demonstrated the good handling of the 53 PC and her speed possibilities – up to 22 knots.

If you think you can see experienced craftsmanship everywhere aboard the PC52, that’s because Horizon have been producing yachts in Taiwan since 1987. This model is the first of the range as it also includes the 60. the 65 and the 74. However, like her big sisters, the 52 has been luxuriously treated like a superyacht. Quality materials, robustness and rigidity are the key words for the construction. ILIAD 53S

Even though Iliad Catamarans only launched in 2019, the new brand has already launched three powercat models from 50 to 74 feet. The Iliad 50 that we tested in MW169 has already seen 7 examples sold in Australia... Building on its success, the yard is announcing the Iliad 53S: this new model is innovative in terms of design, as it does not have a flybridge, thus presents a sporty silhouette, or sedan appearance - hence the “S”. With its significantly lowered superstructure, the 53S can venture onto inland waterways, opening up new cruising possibilities. Like her predecessors, this powercat is a beachable cruising boat, solidly built in a foam/vinylester sandwich. This catamaran is also very comfortable and particularly well equipped as standard - air conditioning, generator, complete electronics, bow thruster, electrical appliances, lithium batteries, a 5,000-W inverter, solar panels, video/sound system etc. Powered by two 440 HP engines, the Iliad 53S is expected to reach 24 knots and be capable of covering more than 3,000 miles in long-distance cruising mode. This model is also available in a flybridge version, marketed under the name Iliad 53F.

AQUILA 54 YACHT

On the back of their experience with the Aquila 44 and 48 - the latter model dropped from the catalog more than two years ago - Aquila Boats launched a new, larger model in 2021, the Aquila 54. During our tests in Clearwater, Florida, we discovered a perfectly protected flybridge, and notably, a new owner’s cabin housed at the front of the nacelle. This benefits from an impressive window area. The saloon includes two sofas, one of which serves as a bench seat around the table. The U-shaped galley is adjacent to the cockpit and is complemented by a central bar. The Aquila 54 is available in 3 to 5 cabins. This new model has seen great success, with some 50 units already ordered a year after its launch...

NEEL-TRIMARANS, born in 2009, can claim to be the only manufacturer to offer large production trimarans – more than 40 units are produced every year. Thanks to this unique positioning and their expertise, the yard launched their very first power trimaran in April 2021. This new brand of powered trimarans called LEEN (a clever reflection of Neel, being named after the owner and founder of the yard, Eric Bruneel) already counts three models, the first of which is this LEEN 56: it characterized by the two floats significantly shorter at the bows compared to the central hull, and by a platform of large surface-area, topped by an imposing flybridge. The advantage of these new ocean-going multihulls is their very low drag: consumption will be limited to 2 liters (just over ½ US gal) per mile at cruising speed (9 knots). The diesel engine in the central hull can be supported by two electric pods - one in each hull - to facilitate maneuvering in port and for leaving an anchorage with the greatest discretion.

LONGREACH 58

The hulls of the Longreach 58 feature inverted bows to increase the waterline length as well as ensuring a wave-piercing effect. Deflecting chines keep the deck dry and the robust keels allow for taking the ground. With its long-range tanks, the 58 can extend its range to 4,000 nautical miles while maintaining a speed of 8 knots. We are dealing with a real cruising passagemaker here, capable of carrying 6 tons of payload. The flybridge is friendly space with an immense area for relaxation, a table and a bar with refrigerator/freezer. This upper deck can be completely enclosed. The highlight of the interior has got to be the owner’s suite with its king-size bed. Headroom exceeds 6 feet 10 inches (2.10 m) throughout.

MOON 60 Power

Motorized version of the 60 Sail

 
 
Following the Moon 60 Sail, an ultra-comfortable catamaran that was offered a year ago, the Polish boatbuilder has announced a power version that’s based on the same platform. With XXL freeboard and generous superstructures, it’s a real villa on the water, not dissimilar in spirit to the Supreme range from Sunreef. The first plans to be released show appendages identical to those on the sail version, and the specifications given by the manufacturer on its website are those of the sailing version, with a draft of 5’11” (1.8 m). For the moment, we don’t have any information about the drivetrain chosen but we hope to be able to tell you more very soon!
