An intermediate solution could be to opt for a portable air-conditioning system that connects to on-board batteries, such as the Coolmaxx Portable model designed by German company HFL Power & Ait GmbH. This air conditioner is compact, at 21” x 8¼” x 17” (53 x 21 x 43 cm), light – 62 lbs (28 kg) but nevertheless powerful (capacity of 6,500 BTU/ 1,900 W). This installation would be attractive for allowing you to enjoy cooler nights on board, but nevertheless is reserved for multihulls with a powerful battery bank.
