The latest little Torqeedo
The new Travel 603 is the latest addition to the German manufacturer's range of electric outboards. This short-shaft motor, which the manufacturer claims is equivalent to a 2 hp regular outboard, fits in the range between the Travel 503 and the 1003 C.

The 603 is particularly light; it weighs only 34 lbs (15.5 kg) complete, including the 500 Wh lithium-ion battery (which floats!). This small engine can be used to propel a small multihull (displacing less than a ton) or a tender. At low speeds, the range is over 5.5 hours on a single battery charge - which can be quickly and easily replaced by a fully charged backup battery. Torqeedo batteries can be charged from the mains, or 12 or 24 V on board, or by a solar panel.
