Well, at the risk of sounding like any common or garden tourist, I have to admit that dur-ing lockdown in Thailand, we have had to be content with whatever we could find, and we haven’t complained about it! Yes, this is Koh Phi Phi, where the booming music is said to bounce off your hulls until three o’clock in the morning, where the speed-boats deliberately get too close to your sugarscoops, and where the tourists arrive as white as sheets... That’s true, but this island has changed a lot in the last few months! Yes, it has, I swear: Now you will only find cats and a few Thai honeymooners. I guess it won’t last, but we might as well enjoy these cliffs as long as the crowds are absent. Even the monkeys don’t understand what’s going on anymore; after decades of being fed, they swim to the catamaran to beg for our tasty food. In short, one can finally fully enjoy this island as it should be. Long live Covid 19? Well, not really....
