A custom-made, folding speed machine
The story of the KattuMaram (catamaran in the Tamil language) began in 2015: Alain Duvivier, an experienced monohull racer, decided to design an exciting but accessible multihull. The specifications limit the size to 32 feet in length, impose a folding system in order to fit into a standard marina slip, and of course be equipped with foils.

The project was entrusted to VPLP. In 2016, a full-scale wooden model was built and construction began for real in 2017, with a few of the specifications already evolving: construction in Nomex carbon rather than glass/vinylester, and Z foils as opposed to the initial C-shaped foils. Launch is scheduled for October 12th at Pornic, on France’s Atlantic coast – and of course, we plan to test this speed machine for you very soon!
