You could be forgiven for thinking it was a giant craft designed for speed records... But no: Russian-born architect Vlad Murnikov has designed his catamaran for a family and their guests, who will be able to enjoy luxurious comfort while flying - or almost flying - at 15 to 20 knots. Peaks of 35 knots have even been claimed! In order to reconcile such contradictory objectives, the architect has concentrated all controls in the cockpit: a single person with a few buttons and joysticks will handle the mxCat88-Volante. As for the foils, Vlad has opted for C-shaped main profiles and T-shaped support planes for the rudders. The lift, for safety in an offshore program, is deliberately limited to 75% of the displacement.
