Following on from their noted 64 footer, Serenity have just announced the start of production of what could be the largest solar-powered production boat in the world, the Serenity 74. This large high-end catamaran is currently under construction and launch is planned for the first quarter of 2019. The boat will have more than 100 m² of solar panels. In electric mode, the cruising speed will be 6 to 8 knots, while in diesel mode - the manufacturer has chosen a hybrid system combining two electric motors and two diesels - it will be 10 to 12 knots. Flat out, the Serenity 74 should exceed a speed of 20 knots.
