DRAGONFLY 32 EVOLUTION
2019 is going to be an important year for the Danish Builder Quorning Boats, as no fewer than two new boats will be presented to the public. The 32 Evolution is designed on the basis of the famous Dragonfly 32, but it really is a new boat, with completely redesigned, more voluminous, wave-piercing floats, allowing even faster sailing, but also greater safety in strong wind conditions with a choppy sea.
The 32 Evolution will replace the Dragonfly 32 Supreme in the range, while the 32 Touring remains in the catalogue. You will be able to discover the boat at the next Düsseldorf Boat Show, in January 2019.

TRICAT 20

Presented to the general public for the first time this year, the Tricat 20 is a trimaran designed for day sailing. But it will also excel in coastal ‘raids’, where its versatility will work wonders. The Tricat 20 of course continues with what made its older sisters such a success, including the intelligent folding system from the 25 Evolution, with the advantage of offering a nice living area, good stiffness under sail and above all, very easy folding, even when sailing. Inside, we find a double berth for the parents and two berths for children. Enough to set off as a family and enjoy life, while having great fun at the helm! See the full test in this edition of Multihulls World.

AVENTURA 34

Can you think about cruising on a boat under 10 meters? To this question, Aventura Catamarans replies ‘yes’, without hesitation! In fact, after the 33, the builder is presenting its new model, the Aventura 34. The boat is designed by the Lasta Design studio, as was the builder’s very successful motorboat, the 10.5. Aboard the Aventura 34, we find some nice accommodation for living life to the full while cruising, with the choice of a 3 double cabin version with one bathroom, or 2 double cabins and 2 bathrooms. With its 5.3m beam, this semi-offshore boat will also allow you to cruise on most of the European inland waterways. Enough to extend your cruising radius…

ASTUS 20.5

The Astus are trimarans which are as much fun to sail as they are practical and easy to use. And the latest addition to the range – the Astus 20.5 – presented to the public for the first time this year, continues this tradition. Designed by VPLP (as was the 16.5), the Astus 20.5 is particularly exciting in its Sport version, as it offers 24m² of sail to windward for a weight of just 400 kg. Enough to have fun and excitement! The other advantages of the 20.5 are its large sailing platform (16 m²), its pivoting rudder and centerboard (very safe for beaching) and its ‘leisure’ or ‘sport’ layout, depending on its program.

TS3

The TS3 is a genuine ‘un-identified flying object’ in today’s rather stereotyped nautical landscape. Imagine: a light, fast catamaran, with inevitably limited accommodation, but which is efficient on all points of sail, and offers unparalleled excitement. Here is the latest boat from Christophe Barreau’s drawing board, the TS3. The idea is to offer a genuine cruising boat (its architect is going to sail to Japan via the northern route), but also an expedition or raid boat, depending on the owner’s choice. What is certain is that the cruising will be…at top speed! During our test (which will appear in one of the coming editions of Multihulls World) we sailed at over 19 knots in around fifteen knots of wind! Magic!

BROADBLUE 346
The test of the new Broadblue 346 literally blew us away (see Multihulls World 162). This Category A-approved boat will allow you to have some nice semi-offshore trips in remarkable comfort, as well as to visit the inland waterways, thanks to its narrow beam. Under sail, the Broadblue proved to be reactive and agile in light weather (7.3 knots in less than 10 knots of wind), and above all, disconcertingly easy to handle. Aboard, with 2 m headroom, its double cabins and its bathroom, you can seriously envisage life aboard, at an absolutely unbeatable price!

IC36

IC36 is an original boat for more than one reason: firstly it can be dismantled and transported, then it is equipped as standard with Oceanvolt electric propulsion, which is recharged by solar panels and hydro-generation. And as the IC36 is supposed to cruise quickly (its aim is 25 knots) the recharging system must function at full efficiency. Finally, the IC36 offers the advantages of an ‘open’ catamaran, but with a rigid bimini on which the solar panels are fixed. You are free to close the saloon area, which then becomes a cozy nest, or leave it open to limit windage if you are racing!

CATNANO 9.9

In 2016, the Catnano appealed to us as it offered good liveability for a 9-meter boat. The new model, called Catana 9.9 is even more impressive from this point of view. Aboard this under 10 meter catamaran, there is in fact good headroom, 5 berths in 3 cabins, 2 heads, a separate shower, a large, well-protected cockpit… More than enough to enjoy some nice, semi-offshore cruises. But the Catnano 9.9 is also a boat for lovers of speed and performance, with its daggerboards and its two steering wheels… A boat which can meet the needs of families as well as hardened crews!

CORSAIR PULSE 600

Pulse is the smallest of the Corsair trimarans, but it is no less appealing for all that! This boat’s ‘plus’ is of course its huge, very welcoming cockpit, which can accommodate 3 or 4 adults really comfortably and even protected. Enough to spend a nice day at sea! The little forward cabin allows equipment to be stowed and is very accessible via its large opening. Nice. The Pulse 600 can of course be folded and transported.

Note that the builder is offering a standard version, an R version (more sail) and even an F version with foils for those looking for excitement…

CORSAIR 760

The Corsair 760 is a trimaran which can be folded and transported, and is sporty as a Corsair must be, but also offers more comfort than its predecessors in the builder’s range, with its small cabin which is a nice shelter if you are leaving for a raid or some coastal camping. Under sail, the Corsair 760 shows good potential, and quickly gives a shot of adrenaline, boosted by a screecher on its bowsprit; runs at 20 knots follow each other, just like the crew’s radiant smiles…

TRICAT 30

Nominated for the 2018 Multihull of the Year award, the Tricat 30 particularly appealed to those who were lucky enough to sail aboard it. Easy to handle, this trimaran is above all very reassuring. More hardened crews will be able to take advantage of its structural stiffness and its seakeeping qualities to push the boat and keep up impressive averages in a good breeze. But the Tricat 30 remains a genuine cruiser, in which you can easily imagine setting off for a cruise!

This is the flagship of the Astus fleet, and it’s true that at the helm of this 24-foot trimaran, you can easily imagine setting off very comfortably for some coastal cruising, thanks to its four berths, its nice saloon, a pleasant galley, the heads and numerous stowage spaces. The Astus 24 can be folded and transported, and it is also easy to step the mast with an ingenious system which makes this complicated task easier.

The smallest Dragonfly is a successful boat which is very pleasant both under sail and for life aboard. Aboard, you will enjoy top level performance if you feel like a racer, helped by top quality fittings. The Dragonfly 25 sails fast, but it is also very beautiful and in addition, it offers genuine accommodation for 4 – impressive for its size. A trimaran which can of course be folded and transported…

DAZCAT 995
Is it possible to find a catamaran under 10 meters on the market with which you can set off for a semi-offshore cruise and…race when you want to? This is the program proposed by this Dazcat 995. Cleverly, the headroom in the hull allows you to enjoy the galley and the chart table to the full, while in the saloon, you can enjoy the scenery whilst sitting comfortably. As a result, the windage is limited to the strict minimum, and the performance is excellent!

LAGOON 380

Since quite recently, this is no longer the most produced catamaran in the world, as it has just been overtaken by the Lagoon 450. But as the latter has been replaced by the new Lagoon 46, our venerable 380 could quickly get its place back! This boat is a real legend: we have lost count of the number of readers who have completed long cruises, and even sailed round the world, aboard one. Comfortable, easy to handle, this is the family or couples catamaran par excellence.

SEAWIND 1190

Developed from the well-known 1160, 150 examples of which are sailing all over the world, the Seawind 1190 is a more performance-oriented catamaran than its predecessor. The weight saving is impressive (-20% compared with the 1160), and can immediately be felt when sailing. We also like the electric outboard propulsion, and the ease of use of a boat whose hull is just as incredible as ever.

GEMINI 35 LEGACY

1981: the date the first Gemini came out in the USA, and since then, even though the boat has been developed, it has kept the same spirit. The Legacy 35 is therefore the latest development of a catamaran which was designed above all to offer its crew great comfort aboard. The ‘must’ remains of course the really nice forward owner’s cabin. We also like the galley down, which allows much more space to be given over to the saloon. A ‘vintage’ boat, but one which is also very nice!

C-CAT 37

Here is a genuine comfortable cruising catamaran, but one which hasn’t for all that forgotten to offer real excitement at the helm, and performance worthy of the name. The Italian builder is offering the boat in a version with keels or daggerboards, depending on the owner's choice and the boat’s program. Because the C-Cat 37 can easily become an ocean cruiser, or excel round the buoys, when the excellent steering position will be particularly efficient.

TF10

Do you dream about flying? Well here is the ultimate machine for you: the TF10 is a really exciting machine, which will appeal to a crew of (experienced) amateurs, as well as to foiling professionals. During our test (Multihulls World 160) we were so impressed that we described the TF10 as ‘one of the most exciting reasonably-sized wind machines in the world’… That’s how much we liked this machine!
