One of these races is the Tour de Belle-Ile, whose 9th edition allowed Alain Gautier (the winner in 2014) to win aboard his Orma trimaran Sensation Ocean, ahead of the Ultim Actuel and Armel Tripon’s Multi 50 Réauté Chocolat. The winning crew covered the 42-mile course in 2h 29m, not that far off the event record, which is still held by Sébastien Josse in 2h 24m. This year there were 440 boats and 2,500 participants on the line, for a start which was brought forward by a day, to avoid the bad weather forecast for the day itself.
The tenth edition will take place on 10th May 2018. An event to be marked in red pen on your calendars!
