The idea is to be able to get to the place where the waste is situated quickly, and literally rake and collect it before it deteriorates and sinks to the bottom of the ocean. To do this, Yves and his team have thought up a ‘quadrimaran’, 72 meters wide in its working configuration, and able to collect waste to a depth of 1.5 meters. To finance his project, the sailor launched a crowdfunding campaign, which allowed him to collect 151,585 euros, almost double the initial aim! A real success, which will allow the construction of a 1/10th scale test prototype, to be launched in 2017.
