This is the idea of the Ngalawa Cup, whose fourth edition will take place in January 2017. Organized twice a year, this event, covering around 300 km along the coasts of Tanzania, will be raced on Ngalawas, rudimentary fishing boats whose hulls are hollowed out by hand from tree trunks, propelled by a lateen ‘sail’, or rather ‘canvas’. A real return to the roots for adventurous sailors who have to re-learn everything to reach the end of the adventure...
