And all this singlehanded! This is the feat that François Gabart has just achieved aboard his trimaran MACIF, beating the record set in a few days before 2014 by Thomas Coville. With 785 miles covered in 24 hours (71 miles better than the skipper of Sodebo Ultim'), the skipper takes this more than symbolic record.
The aim of these two Atlantic crossings between New York and Europe was for MACIF and Sodebo Ultim' to try and beat Francis Joyon’s time. But the record keeps going.
