The Chinese skipper Guo Chan, accompanied by a cosmopolitan five-person crew aboard the former trimaran Idec, renamed Qingdao China, has established a new record time for the famous North-East passage, between Murmansk and the Bering Straits. A complicated 3,240-mile sail among the icebergs that took the trimaran more than 13 days to complete.
After a stopover at Qingdao, the boat should then be taking part in various races in Asia.
