The Chinese sailor, Guo Chuan, who has just bought Francis Joyon’s trimaran IDEC, has set off for his new challenge: crossing the Arctic Ocean fully crewed.

Leaving from the Russian port of Murmansk at the beginning of September, the aim is to set a record time for the North-East Passage. In addition to the skipper, there are 5 crew aboard – 2 Germans, 2 Frenchmen and a Russian – an international crew for a sporting and human adventure amongst the ice, with a trimaran which was not necessarily designed to sail in these extreme seas.
