The Sunreef 74 catamaran, although it takes the name of the very first catamaran the company built at the beginning of the 2000s, really is a completely new boat which the company succeeded in building in just 7 months, after the contract was signed.
The 6,000 or so mile crossing to the USA went perfectly, and the crew were able to sail the whole time, thanks to the huge sails (210m² for the code 0 and 470m² for the gennaker). The engines only had to be started when the wind dropped below 10 knots.
Note that two other Sunreef 74 catamarans have just been launched (Blue Deer and 19th Hole).
