A show for the big ‘multihullers’ family
Do you like sailing fast? Comfortably? Or even fast and comfortably? Well we’ll see you at the International Multihull Boat Show. A show entirely devoted to our favorite boats, where you will be able to see between 50 and 60 catamarans and trimarans from 25 to... 62 feet! A show with a unique, almost family atmosphere, where you will have the time to visit, discover and even test the boats. In short, the show you must come to...
The International Multihull Boat Show: a show exclusively reserved for catamarans and trimarans…
The world premiere for some new boats…
Obviously, you come to the Multihull Boat Show to discover catamarans and trimarans. But if in addition, among the almost sixty boats expected there are some new ones, being presented to the public for the first time, it’s even better!
And the builders have seized this opportunity to present their new boats at the start of the season, at this show which brings together the big family of multihull enthusiasts.
We start with the motor catamarans, and three boats being presented to the public for the first time: the Lagoon 40 MY, the Fountaine Pajot Motor Yacht 37 and the Leopard 51 PC (for its European premiere). In this rapidly developing sector, the three giants of cruising catamaran construction will be presenting their respective vision of motor boats. You were able to read the full test of the Leopard 51 PC in our last edition, whilst that of the Lagoon 40 MY can be discovered in this edition of Multihulls World. For the 37 from Fountaine Pajot Motor Yacht, you will have to wait a while, but the test is now planned. To be continued...
Another family represented at the show, the trimarans, with the Dragonfly 25 being presented as a new boat for the first time afloat. We discovered it ashore at Düsseldorf, and we can’t wait to see the new Danish rocket at work... We must mention that this folding, transportable trimaran will be capable (according to the first tests) of flying its central hull, and sailing on one float!
In the cruising catamaran family, there will be a lot of new boats, as the builders Slyder, Set Marine, Leopard, Nautitech, FlashCat, Comar, Bali and Aventura are announcing new boats, to be presented to the public for the first time at La Grande Motte.
The sailing catamaran which will inevitably attract all the attention will be the Leopard 40, which was just glimpsed at Miami, and is making its debut in Europe. A boat which we will of course find in the Moorings charter fleets, but which should also appeal to many private owners looking for a spacious, comfortable boat for blue-water cruising as a family. With its forward cockpit, accessible from the interior (like the 44 and the 48), it has a lot of advantages to put forward.
Another much-awaited new boat is the Bali 4.3 with its famous aft door, which disappears completely into the top of the coachroof, to offer you a choice of either a huge cockpit, or a panoramic salon. Just like the Bali 4.5, which will also be on diplay (see the test in Multihulls World n° 139), the Bali 4.3 is full of new ideas to improve life aboard. A visit is essential!
Comar is a builder well known for its production of monohulls which are both handsome and have exemplary finishing. The company is launching into catamarans, and will be bringing the Comet Cat 37 to La Grande Motte, a boat with clean lines, which should appeal to connoisseurs and performance-seekers.
With its Slyder 47, the builder is offering a lightweight catamaran, equipped with short daggerboards, whose program is fast ocean cruising. The boat will be making its first public appearance at the Multihull Boat Show. Another world premiere! And that’s not all, as Set Marine, who presented a superb 62-footer at Cannes last year, will also be exhibiting at La Grande Motte, with the Set 435 Sail. Here again, this is the catamaran’s premiere!
Nautitech is bringing four catamarans to the Show, including the new version of the 542, with a renewed interior design. An impressive interior in wood, which we owe to the new partnership with Bavaria. All of which promises the best for the future...
The La Grande Motte Show will also be the opportunity to discover, for the first time in the world, the Aventura 33 Evo², built in Tunisia, as well as the FlashCat 525 Sail. The Spanish builder, well-known for its motor catamarans, is in fact launching into sailing catamarans with this 52-foot boat designed for blue-water cruising.
Finally, the latest new boat announced to date – but we can expect a few last-minute surprises, as in previous years – the Baroness 566, a top of the range catamaran built in Germany, which offers a flybridge and a completely original accommodation design. Must be visited...
What to expect from this 6th edition of the Multihull Boat Show? Sunshine, new boats, a great atmosphere and a lot of multihulls…
... ...but also
Once again this year, the organizers are expecting nearly sixty multihulls, which will allow you to visit a lot of boats, apart from the new ones already mentioned. La Grande Motte 2015 will therefore also be the opportunity to (re)discover almost the whole of the Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Léopard, Catana, Outremer and Nautitech ranges. Lagoon is bringing the 380, 39, 450 and 52, and a 40 MY power catamaran will also be available for sea tests, in addition to the one to be presented for its world premiere. Fountaine Pajot is bringing its two best-sellers, the Helia 44 and Saba 50, as well as the 37 Motor Yacht. You will therefore have to wait a bit longer before discovering the latest boat from the builder, the Ipanema 58...
Catana is coming in strength, as in addition to the two Balis (4.3 and 4.5), the builder will be presenting the Catana 42, 47 and 59. At Nautitech, the Open 40 will have the place of honor (in addition to the 542) with 3 boats, including one available for tests.
Outremer is playing on its home ground at La Grande Motte. The builder will therefore be presenting its latest boat, the new generation 45, as well as a 51. But it would seem, according to our informers, that the builder will be taking advantage of the show to announce several new boats. There is talk notably of a very big catamaran, and a new boat available on the basis of the superb 5X... watch this space!
As we are talking of indiscretions, it seems that Swiss Catamarans has chosen the Multihull Boat Show to make a major announcement... The builder, newly based in the South of France, has it appears decided to strike a decisive blow, and there is talk of two new boats coming very soon. The 55 would thus be completely revised, whilst a 65-foot catamaran would be on the point of being finalized. Official news about the builder’s two catamarans (a 45 and a 55) which will be presented, will be divulged during the show.
Leopard is coming in strength, as in addition to its new 40 and 51PC, the South African builder will be bringing a Leopard 44 and 48. Enough to discover the Leopard Catamarans spirit...
Finally, O Yacht will also be present with its Class 4, which was already glimpsed at Cannes and whose test particularly won us over. Set Marine, with its superb 62-footer – a visit is essential – and Neel, with two 45s, will also of course be present. Note that Neel will be offering tests of its ocean cruising trimaran: for those of you who want to discover the pleasure of a trimaran, it's now or never!
As we go to press, we can also announce that the Jaguar 48 motor catamaran will be on show, as well as at least two Golden Oldies – the former racing boats, maintained in perfect sailing condition by a group of enthusiasts who have never missed a Multihull Boat Show... This year, there is talk of a Native 36, coming straight from San Francisco (the last boat Dick Newick raced on), and/or the Echo 36 designed by the same Dick Newick. Finally, the trimaran area should also be full, as two other builders (and good ones at that), in addition to Neel and Dragonfly, are currently confirming their attendance... To have the exact, regularly updated list of the boats which will be presented, visit the magazine's web site: www.multihulls-world.com.
With its MY 37, Fountaine Pajot Motor Yacht is exhibiting the latest boat in its motor range.
The charter companies…
For fans of multihull vacations, the International Show is rapidly becoming an essential meeting place. In fact, just as last year, the organizers want to focus on charter, and we should find the main players in the bareboat market, as well as the specialists in top of the range crewed charter.
The visit by the Baroness-566 will amaze you. Discover it at La Grande Motte…
From fittings to insurance or finance, all the players in the multihull world will be there…
New boats on their world or European premiere, around sixty boats exhibited, the charter specialists – but the multihull family is not just that... Around the magazine (we will be celebrating our thirtieth anniversary at the show), you will find numerous stands to design, purchase, equip, refit or insure your beautiful multihull. The now-traditional ‘architecture area’ is a unique place for discussion, and you will be able to meet the cream of the multihull architects there. In the village and on the dock, you will also meet builders who have come with no boats, but who are ready to present the full extent of their expertise, as well as their new boats and various projects.
Finally, the essential equipment area will once again this year be the place where you will be able to find everything you need for your boat or its crew, from electronics to safety equipment, via the rig or the sails... And as the Multihull Boat Show is above all a practical show, for those who sail, you will find everything here for financing and insuring your boat.
The Comet Cat 37 from Comar: a very nice looking ‘little’ cat which will be one of the show’s new boats.
