8 Pre-owned Multihulls from € 200,000 to € 2,300,000
The second-hand market in recreational boating, and in the world of multihulls in particular, is very buoyant, with four transactions involving pre-owned models for every one new boat sale worldwide. Given that there are around 20,000 cruising multihulls on our seas and oceans, and that each one is put up for sale on average every seven years (and for around six months, which is quite a long time to sell), this means that there are nearly 1,500 multihulls on offer... That would make for a great boat show, wouldn’t it? Well, the “Occasions du Multicoques et du Refit” event, held in the South of France back in October, brought together 40 models. Among them, we have chosen 8 to present to you here. From the least expensive to the most expensive, we invite you to discover the world of second-hand multihulls!

Excess 11: A Customized Owner’s Version
Simple, elegant, and functional, the Excess 11
is as attractive as it is accessible.
is as attractive as it is accessible.
Judging by the overall impeccable condition of the catamaran, it’s clear that the owners were very fond of their multihull and took great care of it. Unsurprisingly, we learned that they are selling their Excess 11 to upgrade to the 13... which says a lot! This is a three-cabin owner’s version that is very well equipped and energy self-sufficient - this model features small custom touches such as the XCS logos printed on the deck covering and above the entrance to the cockpit.
In terms of sails, this model doesn’t have an overlapping
genoa (an option now available), making do with the self-tacking jib, which is less efficient but guarantees ease of use and will be ideally complemented by a downwind sail on a furler.
The owner’s hull offers very spacious areas and an XL-sized shower. The other hull has two beautiful cabins and a shared shower. The saloon is not huge, favoring a beautiful outdoor space, but it is well laid out. There is even a washing machine and dishwasher on board. An important detail if you’re tall is that the headroom is over 6½ feet (2 meters) throughout. This is a very interesting catamaran for entering the world of multihulls with ease and peace of mind.

Neel 43 Performance: Lighter, Stiffer, Faster…
High-performance trimaran on the outside, bold loft apartment on the inside: the Neel 43 is designed for a discerning audience who loves to sail off the beaten path!
From design to performance, everything on board is appealing or, at the very least, arouses interest. Outside, you immediately sense that you are on a machine built to go fast and far. Standing at the helm, where all the maneuvers are brought together, you can easily see yourself precisely trimming the profile of the DCX sails. In the cockpit, a pleasant sunbathing area faces a decent-size table. But it’s when you step into the brightly lit nacelle that all the rules are broken - at least when it comes to trimarans.
With the saloon area offset to port and opening onto the cockpit, an aircraft-style helm station forward, a flush-decked cabin on the starboard side with a large bay window overlooking the long galley, a watch-keeper’s cabin separated by a curtain on the port side, and finally a forward cabin accessible by an alternating-tread staircase, it feels like an elegant designer loft, inviting us to rethink our definition of a multihull - and it works!

Forget everything you thought you knew about trimarans - the constraints of three hulls become a major asset here thanks to the wide nacelle.
Jean-Noël from Emeraude Multicoques is well aware the multihull he is presenting has some strong arguments in its favor.
Nautitech 46 Open: Aimed at Private Owners
It’s hard to resist this blue water cruising catamaran in as-new condition... but at a second-hand price.
water cruising. The 46 was also available in a flybridge version, which meant losing 70 square feet (6.5 m²) of mainsail area and gaining extra 900 lbs (400 kg)... Nautitech then restyled its model.
Here, we’re aboard an Open version which, among other things, is very easy to maneuver in harbor thanks to the position of the helm stations (protected by T-Tops). The catamaran is in very good condition, the light woodwork is immaculate, and the living spaces are extremely well designed. The saloon with its 360° view blends into the very convivial cockpit. The owner’s hull has a beautiful shower, double washbasin, separate toilet, and plenty of storage space. As for the starboard hull, it offers guests two beautiful, well-lit cabins with separate bathrooms. This 46 has a gennaker in addition to a self-tacking jib, which greatly facilitates short-handed sailing. In terms of propulsion, the twin 60 HP Volvo engines have only 930 hours on the clock.
Perfectly equipped for blue water cruising, with everything from solar panels to the tender hanging from the davits, this catamaran has just been refitted and is ready to set sail immediately. Don’t miss this bargain!

Privilège Signature 580: No Forward Door, but a Carbon Mast
Built to circumnavigate, this unique Privilège is just waiting to set sail again!
its owner decided to forego the standard cockpit and forward door but did opt for carbon fiber for the mast and boom. His choice can be explained by the initial design of this catamaran, which was intended to withstand the harshest conditions that a “full-on” circum-navigation can throw at it. The idea was therefore to provide maximum protection, and the forward cockpit was therefore replaced by a series of lockers topped with sunbathing areas. For the round-the-world program, the well-sheltered helm station, which can be completely enclosed, was an essential feature of the boat. On the other hand, the presence of all-carbon rigging indicates the importance placed on performance. And that makes sense, because speed is also a guarantee of safety. As for comfort, it is not to be outdone, with beautiful outdoor spaces dedicated to relaxation, a bright and luxurious saloon with all the necessary domestic equipment, and finally four extremely bright cabins, including the famous owner’s suite. It should be noted that the starboard forepeak was fitted out to accommodate two crew members. After a few years in service (this model was launched in 2021), it’s quite clear that luxury ages very well!
