Mayotte : Perfectly preserved coral and green turtles
How is this possible? How can the water be so clear? It had been a long time since I had enjoyed such beautiful dives. And I had never met so many turtles in such a small area! Here we are in the north of Mayotte, only a few dozen miles from the nearest of the Comores Islands, Anjouan. It is Mtsamboro island. A “newly“ formed island caused by the area’s volcanic activity, judging by the black cliffs and the lava formations, which are clearly visible. Some baobab trees fight for survival along the cliffs and banana fields that cling to the mountain. Further down, a large beach is dotted with small fishermen’s houses.
