Since 2020, numerous boats have had encounters with orcas as they approach Gibraltar, on the Atlantic side of the ocean (some twenty such interactions were reported in May 2023). The Outremer 51 Piment Rouge, a boat well known to regular Multihulls World readers, was on passage from the Azores to the Mediterranean. Approaching Gibraltar in the evening, the crew came across a first group of orcas, with no contact. By the end of the night, a second group interacted with the catamaran.
