The end of the Mediterranean summer tour!
On October 12, the Outremer 51 Piment Rouge concluded her ‘Summer Tour 2023’ in La Grande-Motte: a journey of 3,500 miles around the Mediterranean, with 100 days of sailing and as many stopovers shared with more than 20 crew members. Among them were two children, Maël and Ewenn, who were part of the adventure from the start. A first for them and for Pierre, the Captain of Piment Rouge.

There’s often music on Piment Rouge! We made the most of it, sitting on the trampolines or on the coachroof. We shared the chores with the adults - cooking, washing the dishes and tidying up. We have also learned to tie knots and operate the winches. There’s never a dull moment. It’s a great atmosphere, but you have to concentrate on the maneuvers.
We then set off for a 38-hour sail to Sicily.
We were able to do our first night watches as a team; the wind picked up to over 40 knots but was fortunately downwind. The big waves that we could see during the night were pretty impressive, but on Piment Rouge, we felt very comfortable, and we were well equipped.
Once we had arrived, we visited the Aegadian Islands. Canoeing and hiking were on the program. Finally, it was time for a last evening together after two weeks on board the catamaran. It was great to swim in the moonlight!
It had been a fabulous adventure, and I’d like to thank all the crew, especially the wonderful captain. Thank you for your welcome, Pierre!
