60 SUNREEF POWER

Luxury ocean passagemaker

The 60 may be the “smallest” powercat in the Polish shipyard’s Power range, but it already has all the attributes of an ultra-modern multiyacht. Easy to handle, this luxury catamaran can be sailed with or without crew. Thanks to its large beam, the 60 Sunreef Power offers an extremely spacious saloon. On the same level as the aft cockpit, this large semi-open space is fully customizable and bathed in sunlight thanks to a skylight and panoramic glazing. The large volumes of the lower deck can be customized to suit the sailing program and lifestyle of the individual owner. The hydraulic platform offers a relaxation area close to the water, perfect for watersports. The figures are of course a little out of the ordinary, with more than 3,000 miles of range, or a 345 sq ft (32 m²) flybridge equipped with a jacuzzi… This model is also available as part of the ECO range.

HORIZON PC60

Making her mark in the United States!

There have already been more than 30 units built, and for a 60-foot powercat, that’s a more than respectable result from a commercial point of view. This model, produced in the United States, features a relatively classic design, very motoryacht-like with inclined bows and almost enclosed flybridge - a true upper deck in a way. You can opt for an open flybridge, however. The deck line that rises up in the middle of the hulls is also in keeping with motoryacht culture - as such, it lends the PC60 an original outline among 60-foot multiyachts. Construction and finish are all completed to a very high standard. The Horizon PC60 can be customized on request.

ILIAD 62

Over 3,500 nautical mile range

The Iliad 62 made its world debut at the 2022 Sydney International Boat Show. Our collaborator Kevin Green was there... On board this long-distance cruiser, the emphasis has been placed on controlling fuel consumption, and this has led to increasing the range to over 3,500 nm. The Iliad 62 is therefore capable of ocean passage-making: with a bridgedeck clearance of 3’9” (1.15 m), it also reflects an architectural design optimized for comfort in the open sea. Moving around on deck is easy, as is access to the huge flybridge. Whether open or fully enclosed, the flybridge can accommodate up to ten people in luxurious comfort and has a separate galley complete with refrigerator, ice maker, grill/barbecue etc. As for the cabins, they each include large bathrooms and beautiful openings to enjoy the sea. The hull dedicated to the owner can integrate a laundry room, a workshop, an office area, or even separate crew quarters with access from the bow.

MC63p Offshore

36 knots top speed!

The first example, already in build, picks up on some of the design elements from the MC60, such as the angled deck edge, and the aft-set nacelle/bimini assembly. But the hulls, in the forward section, still gain in freeboard and feature a second chine. The trampoline disappears, replaced by a rigid deck. The MC63p adopts high-tech construction: carbon/foam/epoxy on all levels to obtain a rigid and lightweight platform. Two 875 horsepower engines provide a cruising speed of 20 knots, and 36 knots top speed thanks to the addition of semi-foils. The interior has been particularly well thought-out and comes in three versions, with three or four cabins. Large windows - panels and doors - are retractable in order to completely decompartmentalize the nacelle in fine weather. Two flybridge configurations are available. The MC63Tourer, that features a reduced freeboard and less powerful motors, is also on offer: this version is derived from the former 59p.

POWER 67

High-end yacht for blue water

Unlike the Motor Yacht range, designed specifically to be powercats, the Power 67 is a catamaran developed using as a base the flagship of the Fountaine Pajot sailing fleet, the Alegria 67. The hull has of course been optimized to meet the specific requirements of multipowers, and to support the power of the engines, which range from 2 x 300 HP to 2 x 435 HP. This is enough to offer speed enthusiasts a wide range of top speeds of over 20 knots, even if the main interest of this type of unit is to go along between 10 and 15 knots in remarkable comfort. Another specific feature is that the Power 67 version offers a flybridge designed 100% for life on board, with the area dedicated to sail handling being reorganized to offer new spaces.

LAGOON SIXTY 7

Everything about her says superyacht…

The objective of the SIXTY 7 is clearly to attract owners of monohull superyachts of 100 feet and over, bored with the high costs and complicated management of their vessel. Lagoon was therefore keen to offer this clientele a more compact powercat that requires a smaller crew of just one or two people. However, comfort has nothing to envy that on a superyacht, even if the famous suspended terrace of the owner’s cabin of the SEVENTY 8, the flagship of the range, is not incorporated. The SIXTY 7, on the other hand, retains the same sleek design as her bigger sibling. She also offers an exceptional level of finish.

Blade-sharp bows

The initials chosen for this model, whose plans have just been unveiled, could create a semblance of confusion with the McConaghy - it’s M for Mylius, a renowned Italian builder offering their first motor catamaran, hence the C for Cat. The MC66p is a Ceccarelli Yacht Design project, with interiors designed and developed by Parisotto + Formenton. The powercat looks to be very luxurious, with the bulwark sculpted out along the midships section of the deck, lightening the overall silhouette, while offering maximum glazed surface area for the nacelle. The inverted bows are at a steep angle at the top, so that the deck itself starts relatively far back. This configuration ensures good weight centering and will limit pitching. Close to the waterline, the chine should limit spray effects. The 66 will be equipped as standard with a pair of Volvo IPS700 engines, each rated at 550 HP.

VALDER 20

A POWERCAT FOR JAMES BOND !

When New Zealand offshore powerboat racer Wayne Valder decided to take an interest in building a cruising powercat, the result was always going to be a (very) fast machine! “I’m used to racing my MTI catamaran at over 120 knots on the US offshore circuit, so even though I hadn’t planned anything that fast in recreational boat form, I still wanted something with reasonable performance,” Wayne tells us.
His quest led him to one of the big names in high-performance leisure catamarans, Roger Hill, who designed a large 67-foot (20 m) catamaran equipped with a self-stabilizing foil system. This powercat was then built in a foam/carbon/epoxy sandwich and fitted with a powerful drivetrain (2 x 1,300 HP) to reach 45 knots. Cruising speed is between 18 knots - the speed at which the foils start to work - and 30 knots, where range is still 1,143 miles (with a 10% reserve). Particular attention has been paid to soundproofing and vibration suppression. The layout can be customized according to the Owner’s wishes, as can the deck layout: the flybridge version can even accommodate a (small) helicopter, though a Sedan version also features in the catalog.

PRESTIGE M8

Everything you’d expect from a true yacht…

The M8 should have been called the M58, but Prestige’s management preferred to emphasize the “monohull equivalent comfort”, in the same way that Fountaine Pajot did with their MY range. The M8 intends to offer features comparable to those of an 80-foot monohull yacht. Following our test, we can confirm this to be the case. It’s clear that a great deal of effort has also gone into the design, the materials used, and the quality of finish, such as the access to the flybridge from inside, surrounded by glass to avoid breaking the view, the bar between the two aft openings and the hydraulic platform that can be used as a terrace at the same level as the cockpit. While the M8 isn’t a semi-custom powercat, various options, such as having the galley down, will allow this new model to be personalized. The shipyard is also taking a step towards respecting the environment with a Silent Yacht option: a lithium battery bank combined with solar panels will allow the crew to spend the night aboard without having to resort to running the generator.

Semi-custom, American style

Since it was founded in 2009, Horizon Power Catamarans has built close to 60 luxury powercats. Within the renowned range of 52 to 74 footers is the ultra-comfortable PC68. This boat retains, in terms of design, the codes of American production with freeboard significantly taller on the forward third. The Portuguese deck with side access to the helm station, and the flybridge that can be completely enclosed, guarantee comfort and ease of movement on board. Inside, the shipyard offers four luxurious cabins with the option of a large open-plan saloon or a master cabin forward on the main deck. Launch is scheduled for 2023.

AQUILA 70 LUXURY

Bulbous bows

The Chinese-American yard is now positioning itself in the luxury yachting sector with this brand new 70, launched over the course of last winter. Entirely designed thanks to CFD (computational fluid dynamics) tests and designed for motorized propulsion, the Aquila 70 is designed with bulbous bows and is optimized for speeds from 12 to 27 knots, but also comfort under way, with very good stability. The owner’s cabin, in the forward rostrum, occupies the full available width. Four other cabins are located in the hulls - plus two crew cabins in the forepeaks. As for equipment, nothing has been left out.

70 SUNREEF POWER

A made-to-measure luxury powercat

Launched in 2021, the 70 replaces the yard’s former best-seller from the 2010’s, built in 15 examples. At 5 feet (1.50 m) wider, the new 70 Sunreef Power fits into Sunreef’s flagship power range which includes the 60, the 80 and the 100. This new unit is suited equally to both private and high-end charter use, luxuriously appointed to accommodate up to 8 guests. This first example features four cabins, of which one is a suite dedicated to the owner. The drivetrain comprises 2 x 850 hp motors compared to 2 x 300 hp as standard, though this model is also available in the ECO version with electric motors. The full deck allows you to take advantage of all the available space, which totals 3,272 square feet (304 m²). At the stern a garage has been designed to house jetskis and other watercraft, and a vast hydraulic platform allows you to enjoy 100% of the pleasures of the anchorage.
