While the 60, 70 and 80-footers in Sunreef Yachts’ latest Power range are coming out of the shipyard’s new workshops in Gdańsk at a steady pace, the brand has just launched the flagship of the series - a title that is most certainly a temporary one, given the success of these very luxurious catamarans. We got the chance to discover the very first 100 Sunreef Power - a concentrate of sheer luxury on two hulls.

Sunreef Yachts’ growth is clearly evident to anyone visiting the company’s facilities, as evidenced by the number of recently launched boats in front of the new buildings on the banks of the Martwa Wisla River. Our mission here was to try out the latest addition to the range, the 100-foot Power. This big sistership of the 80 (the design is very similar) is the latest flagship of the brand - but for how long? A 40-meter model (130-foot) is in the works, and construction of the 49-meter (160’) Super Yacht is well underway under a dedicated tent that stands more than 50 feet in height. Since 2017, the year the new range was launched, no less than forty models between 60 and 100 feet - including ten Power - have left the Hanseatic shipyard, proof if any were needed of the brand’s dynamism. Buoyed by the enthusiasm of a clientele coming from the monohull superyacht sector and seduced by the capabilities, no longer simply of habitability, but of luxury accommodation, the order book remains full. The 100 Power perfectly illustrates this irresistible ascent. Step by step, Sunreef is continuing its journey towards the world of proper superyachts. Taking a look at this new model, we discover how the brand is negotiating this evolution towards ultimate luxury.

The amount of space dedicated to relaxation is huge. Forward on the coachroof, as well as at the back on the flybridge, multiple seats and sunbathing areas are available to guests. As for the tender, it can easily accommodate ten people.
The success generation
At first glance, it might be difficult to distinguish this 100-footer from the smaller models in the range, especially from a distance on the water. The brand didn’t want to change a winning team, or rather a winning design. The T-top of the flybridge is set further aft compared to the 80. At 915 sq ft (85 m ), this flybridge is satisfied with a protected area of 645 sq ft (60 m ) - the remaining space being dedicated to sunbathing and the jacuzzi. But the silhouette is identical in proportions, which translates into impressive volumes. Two figures sum up the atmosphere of this gigantism: 44 feet (13.5 m) in beam and 11 feet (3.5 m) in freeboard... The familiar design with its rounded corners is pleasant, even having a slightly sporty look. Our model looks great with its anthracite hull, teak deck, black coachroof windows and copper pink superstructure. To get on the deck, a staircase of about ten steps welcomes you. The 18-foot (5.5-meter) color-coordinated dinghy is immediately noticeable – it’s capable of taking all the guests ashore in one rotation. The hydraulic platform is designed to support more than 2,850 lbs (1,300 kg) and the garage, just below the sundeck, is large enough to accommodate a pair three-seater jet-skis, a gas station for refueling them and various nautical water toys. On deck, the aft cockpit/saloon combines to form a reception area of over 1,075 sq ft (100 m ). The cockpit table is large enough to seat a dozen guests. Also worthy of note is a very practical, daytime restroom. The interior is divided into four areas - saloon, huge bar, professional galley cleverly separated by glass windows and a gym with a treadmill overlooking the sea. Accommodation in the hulls includes a large owner’s suite with a bathtub and four luxury guest cabins. Headroom exceeds 7’3” (2.2 m) throughout, providing a striking impression of volume. The equipment including individual air conditioning and TV for each room is ultra-complete. In order not to disturb sleep, the air conditioning was developed in-house: a very economical (350,000 BTU/hr) system is powered by an XXL-sized battery bank, meaning that generators are not needed at night. Two large double crew cabins are located in the forepeaks. At the stern, the captain has a double cabin with an office space. With three couples, the crew will number 6 people. And with 10 guests, that ratio promises great luxury service…

Robust and careful construction
If you see these boats before they’re painted, the robustness of the construction is self-evident: bows, forefoot, hull bottoms, hatch surrounds and chines are all built in monolithic GRP. The thickness of the foam sandwich speaks for itself. Carbon cloth is used for reinforcement in highstress areas such as the hull to nacelle connections or the structural bulkheads. The entire area of the nacelle is doubled by with a lower compartment dedicated to the technical elements. This technical area is accessible via hatches (foredeck, saloon-galley and aft cockpit). It is also possible to enter from the forward crew cabins and exit into the toy garage, as all the “basement rooms” are linked by a gallery- like passageway running the entire length. The battery bank, the chargers and inverters, the air conditioning, the laundry room and even the cold storage room are installed here. The quality of the technical installations and the finish are particularly high. We were less enthusiastic about the engine rooms: despite a cathedral- like height and three levels, the layout seems to offer pretty cramped access to the motors themselves, which isn’t going to make for easy maintenance. With this 100-footer, Sunreef is already shifting up a gear... but the 49M remains in the line of sight and is on everyone’s mind - the teams are aware of the challenge represented by this behemoth under construction, and which will not tolerate any approximation.

The flybridge houses a bar, a saloon, a large table to seat ten or twelve, a Jacuzzi, a sunbathing area - and there’s still room to dance.
The aft cockpit has a very large table. Under the sundeck, a garage is home to two three-person jet skis, a gas station and all the nautical toys.
Unique custom expertise
Beyond the 100 Power’s outstanding performance, flattering ergonomics, spacious accommodation, and technical capacity to serve guests in the most comfortable conditions, Sunreef Yachts is further enhancing its expertise in custom decor - remember that the shipyard was a forerunner in the introduction of luxury on catamarans. In this instance, the specifications by the owners (who will be using their multihull exclusively for private use) includes a very traditional Old England style decor, but with a touch of fantasy all the same. When cruising, the Owner wants to feel at home in the truest sense of the word: he sent photos of the inside of his house so that the interior design teams could reproduce his chosen style. All the woodwork in matte white lacquered oak veneer and the light brown oak floor contrast with the rose quartz veneer of the bar and the gold brass trim. The furniture is classical: fir-green velvet Chesterfield sofas, Club chairs, and a pink silk carpet and fancy lighting add a touch of originality. The cabins have been designed in the same spirit, with Paris Metro-style tiles for the bathrooms.

The owner’s suite has a New England feel.
The gym is forward of the saloon, overlooking the sea. To limit the effects of any rolling, the treadmill is installed athwartships.
For once, the bathroom lives up to its name - there is actually a bathtub!
The captain enjoys a large double cabin with a desk - very convenient for working during long periods under way.
Sunreef and modern times
The launching dock where the 100 Sunreef Power is splashed still looks wide. The 49M (whose hulls are currently in build in the huge tent) should fill it better with its almost 55-foot (16.85 m) beam... In the two years since our previous visit to the shipyard, the ultra-fast expansion of the new buildings is surprising. Six assembly halls complete the 525-foot (160-meter) wood shop, not counting the structures that house the superstructure of the 49M. Yes, the tent is only for the hulls - the total height of this yacht should be around 52 feet (16 m)! Another building houses the styling and design offices as well as the marketing and sales departments. An eighth hangar is under construction, which will be dedicated exclusively to painting. As Artur from the marketing department explains, “These are modern times, it’s all happening faster than you can say it”. In all, there are 20,000 m (almost 5 acres) of hangars spread over a 10-hectare (25-acre) site. In anticipation of other buildings, adjacent land has been acquired. Between 2007, when they started in the cruising game, and the release of the new range in 2017, Sunreef Yachts produced around 75 catamarans. Since 2017, no less than 40 units have left the yard in less than five years. This new range, available from 50 to 100 feet, is taking the brand on spectacular progression. The shipyard now has 1,800 employees - 1,300 in production and 500 office staff.

9 to 10 knots, an ocean-going speed
We began our trip out to sea up on the flybridge helm station, which is very complete. Heading down the channel that leads to the bay of Gdańsk, the weather was beautiful. At sea, a noticeable tide meant that we had to take our speed/fuel consumption readings twice - with and against the current for greater accuracy. A speed of nine to ten knots guarantees ocean-going range, transatlantic for example. But if you accelerate up to the 17-knot maximum, this range collapses to less than 1,000 nautical miles despite the 7,400-US gallon (28,000-liter) tanks... but isn’t it worse with monohull superyachts, that are even thirstier? All helm feel is excluded: the electric control system makes it much diminished, requiring you consulting the rudder angle indicators (that are fortunately analog) to orient the helm correctly. But in the end, it is more acoustic comfort that you’d be looking for - and on this respect, you’re aboard a no-fault boat.

The gallery beneath the main deck, gives access to all the technical elements. The level of finishing is clearly improved, and you can access it everywhere on board from hatches in the deck.
The steering quadrants are located aft of a watertight bulkhead, along with the generators. The height inside the compartment – 10’ (3 m) - is pretty impressive.
Conclusion
Sunreef Yachts, in its progression towards luxury, seems unstoppable. The ambition and perseverance of the builder in this very closed world of multiyachts is nothing short of remarkable - no sooner have we recovered from being overwhelmed by this luxurious cruiser of almost 100 feet in length, there’s a 49M already on the horizon. The big appeal of the 100 Sunreef Power, beyond its intrinsic qualities - successful design, ocean-going range and exceptional comfort - is undoubtedly the possibility of ordering a custom model.
The Pluses:
+ Customizable as desired
+ Imposing lines with strong character
+ Space and luxury in abundance
The Minuses:
- No feel to the electrically controlled helm
- Engine rooms not very ergonomic
- Fabric for the sunbeds
