This time, Sunreef Yachts, the leader in the luxury catamaran sector, is setting the bar way higher... the Polish shipyard’s latest model will measure some 213 feet (65 meters). This aluminum multiyacht will be perfect for ocean-going exploration and cruising programs in an atmosphere as exclusive as it is luxurious, thanks to its record tonnage of 1,800 GT.

At the close of the Cannes Yachting Festival, we had the opportunity to sail aboard Lagoon’s flagship, the Eighty 2. We had first discovered this large catamaran exclusively in Bordeaux, and it has proved to be lively under sail and economical under motor – 11.6 US gallons (44 liters)/hour at 2,000 rpm. 

Cabin charters were developed in the 1990s on large catamarans, but the luxury charter world, which is very (too?) exclusive, did not follow suit. Ponant, renowned for its luxury cruise ships, is (re)launching this concept, and it’s a perfect opportunity to discover fabulous places in a luxury yachting environment.
