Knysna is a charming little South African town that sits on the banks of the river of the same name that forms a vast, remarkably protected bay measuring some 7 square miles (18 km²). The whole area opens out onto the Indian Ocean via a channel called The Heads - reputed to be one of the most dangerous passes in the world!
