With the discontinuation of the Aventura 34, only the Broadblue 346 from the UK remains. So it is with some interest that we discovered the Onyx 10.5, currently in build in South Africa. Its highly original design features raised side-decks, while the hulls open onto the sugarscoops, housing two large, owner's style double cabins. The coachroof stands out with its inverted struts, and inside, the layout is very modern. For propulsion, the shipyard has opted for one central Vetus motor that drives two propellers via a hydraulic transmission. Our only reservation is that the bridgedeck clearance looks to be quite low, but this will need to be verified during the first test sails.
